At Newall Green High School we see ourselves as a community living and working together. We want our students to be proud to belong to their community and to show that pride by being identified by the wearing of a distinctive uniform as follows.
Students will need a white button neck shirt/blouse which must be tucked into trousers/skirt at all times.Students will need full-length black or grey traditional school trousers or the NGHS skirt. No chinos, jeans or ‘jean-like’ trousers. No skinny jeans or leggings. Students may wear plain black school shoes or all-black trainers. No white or coloured soles/rim/logos on the shoes or trainers. Students may wear plain black socks or plain black/opaque tights. The NGHS school blazer must be worn at all times.Jewellery: one pair of stud earrings and a watch can be worn.Visible make-up should not be worn. Students who arrive at school without correct uniform will be sent to the uniform store to borrow the correct uniform. They will be expected to wear the uniform provided, which they will need to return at the end of the day.
Students should wear black PE shorts and the school polo shirt or rugby shirt. Students may wear their own trainers/appropriate footwear for sports.
• No extreme hair styles are allowed. Hair must be of a natural colour.
• A wristwatch only is allowed.
• One pair of small stud earrings in the lower ear. Large hooped or dangly earrings must not be worn for health and safety reasons
• No facial, tongue or body piercings
Make Up is not allowed. This includes
• Coloured nail varnish
• False/acrylic nails
• False eyelashes
External coats/jackets are not to be worn inside the school building.
Where a headscarf is worn for religious reasons it must be plain black with no decorations or tassels.
All items of uniform should be labelled with the student’s name. Students who lose items of uniform/equipment should contact Student Services where lost property is stored.
Students should bring a bag suitable to carry their books (A4 size), writing equipment and sports kit for every lesson. All students are expected to take responsibility for their books and equipment. Lockers are available for students and can be arranged through the school reception.
