The fifth annual One Education Literacy Conference takes place at the beginning of October, this year's content will of course be delivered online. The theme for #LitConf20 is ‘Literacy for All’. Inspirational keynote speakers and workshop hosts will be sharing with delegates how they can best support and challenge all Literacy learners; ensuring every child leaves school able to speak, read and write confidently.
Curriculum Leader for English at NGHS, Mrs Bennett is very excited to be taking part this year, delivering a workshop entitled, ‘Supporting Writing Across the Curriculum at KS3’,
“I am very excited to part of LitCon2020 and share my knowledge and expertise with other educators around the country. It is a real privilege to take part. I also look forward to attending other workshops and learning from other educators”
Mrs Bennett has a wealth of experience teaching students across KS3 and KS4 with varying needs and abilities, developing expertise in creating an inclusive classroom and encouraging even the most reluctant students to engage with their learning. Newall Green High School has really focussed on oracy and literacy over the past year, improving the reading ages of many students and impacting on their literacy outcomes. Mrs Bennett has been active in implementing effective Oracy in the classroom using the School 21 model, embedding a curriculum that develops students’ confidence and communication skills which can then be transferred into written skills.
