7 May 2020
Friday 8 May 2020 marks 75 years since Nazi Germany's formal surrender at the end of the Second World War. On VE (Victory in Europe) Day in 1945, millions took to the streets to celebrate peace after years of devastating war. This Friday the nation will be marking the day from home following government guidelines surrounding Coronavirus. There are lots of ways we can celebrate from home with the people in our household.
The National Literacy Trust have put together a resource for parents/carers to use with their children at home to mark the occasion. The link is https://literacytrust.org.uk/family-zone/9-12/what-ve-day/ and there is a pdf below which you can view or download.
English Heritage have some fantastic resource packs which include dances you can learn, recipes you can make, and inspiring stories from people who experienced the war first hand. Find these here: https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/inspire-me/ve-day/
