Students at Newall Green High School achieved a number of awards in this year’s UKMT Junior Maths Challenge. Over 270,000 students from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge with roughly the top 6% receiving a gold certificate, 13% silver, and 21% bronze.
Students achieved the following:
Hayden Byfield: Silver, Best in Year 8, Best in school
Alyssa Lavin: Silver
Vincent Yan: Silver
Megan Haslam: Bronze
Daniel Mann: Bronze
Kajus Kaplanovskis: Bronze
Aiken Brown Williams: Best in Year 7
The Junior Maths Challenge is run by the UK Mathematics Trust and supported by the institute and Faculty Actuaries. It is aimed at those in Years 7 and 8 and is sat in schools. The UK Mathematics Trust is a charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. It organises national maths competitions and other mathematical enrichment activities for UK secondary school students. For more information, see their website here.
