The Manchester Museum came in to school today to deliver a design brief to Year 8. Michael Whitworth who is the Commercial Director at Manchester Museum showed Year 8 some of the current products which sell well at the Museum shop and challenged the students to create their own prototype using acrylic, perspex or wood. Students can aim their product at any age group but must submit a working prototype and a portfolio demonstrating how they achieved this, they will work in groups and will have to present their final product to the Michael and his team. The winning prototype will be developed into a saleable item and sold in the museum shop! This is a fantastic opportunity for our designers and makers to show off their skills and gain knowledge and experience of product design, market research and the retail industry. More information about our partnership with the Manchester Museum and this design technology challenge will be documented on our twitter account @NGHS_STRIVE.
